The Kameng Culture and Heritage Museum in Nyukmadung, located in the Dirang Sub-Division of West Kameng District, is set to open its doors to the public, marking a significant milestone in preserving and showcasing the rich cultural legacy of Arunachal Pradesh. The inauguration ceremony, scheduled from 10 AM to 12 PM, will be graced by several prominent dignitaries, including Shri Pema Khandu, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Shri Kamlesh Paswan, Minister of State for Rural Development, Government of India, and Lt Gen Gambhir Singh, AVSM, YSM, General Officer Commanding, Gajraj Corps.

The Kameng Museum is positioned as a cultural beacon that not only highlights the history and heritage of Arunachal Pradesh but also promotes unity, peace, and nation-building through community integration. Conceptualized by the Indian Army under Operation Sadbhavana and aligned with the Vibrant Village Programme of the Government of India, the museum is a collaborative effort involving the local community. The museum proudly stands as a symbol of Arunachal Pradesh’s historical, religious, archaeological, and ethnographic richness.

Often referred to as the “Land of Dawn Lit Mountains,” Arunachal Pradesh has deep historical roots in Indian civilization, with mentions in ancient texts such as the Kalika Purana and the Mahabharata. The Kameng Museum weaves together this profound historical connection with the resplendent natural beauty of the region. The museum houses 343 traditional artefacts donated by the local community, who also provided ancestral land for the project.

Professionally curated by the National Museum Institute of History of Art, Conservation, and Museology, the museum offers an immersive experience, including a state-of-the-art movie hall showcasing the cultural and historical links between Arunachal Pradesh and Bharatvarsh. Visitors will also have access to a cafeteria and a children’s park, making it an ideal destination for tourists and families alike.

Shri Pema Khandu hailed the museum as a “transformative beginning” for the region, expressing hope that it will foster a deeper appreciation for Arunachal Pradesh’s heritage and inspire visitors from across the globe. The Kameng Culture and Heritage Museum is expected to stand as a proud symbol of identity, resilience, and unity, highlighting Arunachal Pradesh’s integral role in the broader cultural landscape of India.

The inauguration of this museum marks not just the celebration of a cultural institution, but a testament to the enduring spirit of Arunachal Pradesh and its commitment to preserving and sharing its vibrant heritage with the world.(pr)
