The Indian Army, Assam Rifles, and Manipur Police have carried out a series of successful operations to recover weapons, ammunition, and explosives across several districts of Manipur. These efforts, coordinated with other security forces, targeted areas in Imphal East, Tengnoupal, Yangiangpokpi, and Churachandpur, aiming to ensure peace and safety in the region.
On December 23, acting on reliable information, security forces searched Ngariyan Hill, located in Imphal East district. They recovered a variety of dangerous items, including a Light Machine Gun, a single-barrel shotgun, a pistol, two tube launchers, explosives, and ammunition.
A few days later, on December 27, another operation was carried out in the Tengnoupal district. During this search, forces found a factory-made .303 rifle, grenades, and Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). They also discovered and dismantled three hideouts positioned on high ground overlooking National Highway 102, which were suspected to be used by miscreants.
The same day, the Army received information about the movement of weapons near Yangiangpokpi. A team set up a checkpoint on the road leading to Lamlong and conducted vehicle inspections. This resulted in the recovery of two double-barrel rifles and one single-barrel rifle from two vehicles.
In Churachandpur district, another operation on December 27 uncovered an under-construction structure near National Highway 2 in K Lhanghnom Vangkho village. This site was believed to be a hideout for miscreants. Security forces destroyed the structure and increased patrols in the area to prevent further illegal activity.
All recovered items, including weapons and explosives, have been handed over to the Manipur Police for further investigation. These operations demonstrate the commitment of the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, and local police to maintaining peace and security in Manipur, ensuring the safety of its residents. (PR)
