The Indian Army successfully organized the 2nd YFC Football Tournament from February 17 to March 18, 2025. 32 teams participated in the competition, which lasted for 30 days. The final match was held in Yambem, Imphal East district, where Kgsham Football Academy won against Nelson FC by one goal and claimed the trophy.
The tournament began with league matches from February 17 to 28, followed by knockout matches from March 1 to 10. The semi-finals took place on March 12 and 13, leading to an exciting final on March 18. More than 2,000 football fans from nearby villages, including Changamdabi, Yambem, Yaripok, Andro, and other areas of Imphal East and Thoubal districts, gathered to watch the final match.
At the closing ceremony, trophies were given to both the winning and runner-up teams. Players from both finalist teams received medals, along with awards for the best goalkeeper and the best player of the tournament. Mr. Langanba of Teloy FC won the Golden Boot Trophy for scoring the most goals in the tournament. The referees and organizing committee members were also honored for their contributions.
This annual football event gives young players from different villages a chance to showcase their talent while also bringing communities together. The Indian Army’s efforts in organizing this tournament have been widely appreciated for promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, and unity in the region. (PR)
