Air Marshal SP Dharkar Assumes Charge as Vice Chief of Air Staff

Air Marshal SP Dharkar assumed charge as the Vice Chief of Air Staff (VCAS) on October 3, 2024, at Air Headquarters, New Delhi. Commissioned in the fighter stream in 1985, Dharkar is a decorated officer with nearly four decades of service. An alumnus of RIMC, NDA, and the US Air War College, he has commanded key units and served as the first Director General of the Defence Space Agency. Prior to becoming VCAS, he was Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Air Command. His leadership is expected to enhance the IAF's operational and strategic capabilities.
