KA DESIGN- an Assam-based luxury interior designing firm founded by miss Karishma kakoty has launched its first furniture segment company KA Bespoke at Goa. The launching ceremony was unveiled by IAS Swetika Sachan- director of industries, Trade and commerce, and CEO of Goa investment promotion & felicitation board.
The company's motive is not just to use rich fabrics but also to offer the rich diverse taste and culture of the North East in statement furniture pieces. To ensure to stay in touch with tribal origin and roots, despite how costly the design affair can get, the company will use the materials and design exclusively from all northeast states.
When we think of Northeast India, we mostly think about travel and adventure in lands lesser-known. Very rarely does anyone think of a century's worth of rich heritage and crafts so unique, they could change the aesthetic for good. What's even distant is appreciating the communities whose entire livelihood thrives on this. Unfortunately, this ignorance makes most of the handicrafts artisans and handlooms survive on meager wages.
The founder of the company miss Karishma kakoty said that she is always proud of the indigenous culture, traditional art, crafts, handlooms associated with her homeland- Assam and Northeast India.
Her love for handlooms and passion to revive most of the forgotten arts, and a will to help the artisanal communities to survive and thrive on their own led to the germination of an idea that later took the shape of KA Bespoke.
The company will ensure that the struggling artisan community will be provided the encouragement and resources to earn a decent living by using their art crafts. This is also an attempt to build a sustainable livelihood for the women weavers, to support and make them confident and economically independent. As a women entrepreneur, she thinks it's our responsibility to educate, enrich, and emancipate those rural women artisans from their financial struggles. She firmly believes that small steps taken today will lead to a giant leap tomorrow for the rise of women's hood.
KA Bespoke Company focuses to work with women weavers who have honed their skills through generations of knowledge in an age of production. Their mission is to create awareness of the rich heritage of Northeast India and to support the women and their indigenous art form and take it to the global market.
