The virtual inauguration of the new office of the Commandant Third NAP Battalion, Tuensang and Superintendent of Police Zunheboto was inaugurated on 7th August 2023 by Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister and Home & Border Affairs Shri Y Patton in a programme held at the Mini Conference Hall, Police Headquarter, Kohima.
Addressing as the special guest, Shri Y Patton congratulated the DGP of Nagaland and all ranks and files of the Police Department and particularly the Commandant 3d NAP Battalion Tuensang and the Superintendent of Police, Zunheboto for ensuring the timely completion of the new Office buildings. He said that it was all under the dynamic leadership of the Chief Minister of Nagaland Shri Neiphiu Rio, who encouraged by way of witnessing all these infrastructural developments to bring quality service to the people of Nagaland.
Shri Y Patton said that with the inauguration of the new office buildings of the Commandant of the 3rd NAP Battalion and SP Zunheboto, he hopes that all the ranks and files would continue to provide public service to the people with renewed vigour and appealed to all the Civil Society Organizations to continue in extending their support and cooperation in maintaining peace and harmony in the districts. He also stated that the 3rd NAP Battalion earned itself the title of "Tiger Battalion" and is known as the Ferocious 3rd and has been the vanguard in providing security to the State from external aggression. With this unparalleled distinction in the maintenance of law and order and security in the State, the 3rd NAP Battalion stands second to none, Patton said. Lauding the Zunheboto Police, Shri Y Patton said that proactive measures of Zunheboto Police along with cooperation from the general public broke the nefarious trend of violence, human life loss and property loss to 0 (zero) in the recently held Nagaland Legislative Assembly elections 2023.
The Deputy Chief Minister also informed that the State Chief Minister Shri Neiphiu Rio has provided some funds for the creation of five new SP offices for the five newly created districts in Nagaland, two officers mess in Chumoukedima and one in Thizama has been proposed.
Further, the Deputy Chief Minister appealed to the public of Tuensang and Zunheboto to cooperate with the law enforcement agencies to ensure a better security environment to usher in development to curb criminal acts and crime detection, to prevent drug menace and create a peaceful environment in the societies and urged upon the civil societies of the district to extend full support to the District Executive Force in the fight for anti-social activities.
Short speeches were delivered by Director General of Police, Nagaland Shri Rupin Sharma, Advisor of Food & Civil Supplies and Legal Metrology Shri KT Sukhalu, and Minister for Housing and Mechanical Engineering Shri P Bashangmongba Chang respectively.
The programme was chaired by Shri Renchamo P Kikon, IPS, Additional Director General of Police (Administration).
