Arunachal Pradesh is taking big steps to make business activities smoother and attract more investors. To achieve this, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein recently led a high-level meeting to review the state’s Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) reforms. The discussions mainly focused on implementing the EoDB Act 2021 quickly and making business processes simpler.
During the meeting, the Deputy Chief Minister stressed the importance of putting the EoDB Act 2021 into full effect. He instructed all government departments to move their services online and create clear rules under the EoDB framework. He also highlighted the need for faster service delivery and strict enforcement of Citizen Services Delivery Acts to prevent unnecessary delays. Additionally, he encouraged officials to find ways to reduce complicated procedures and make it easier for businesses to operate.
R.K. Sharma, Secretary (Planning & Investment), welcomed the attendees and emphasized the government’s commitment to building a business-friendly environment. He explained that the EoDB Act 2021 requires all government services to be integrated into a single online portal, ensuring better efficiency and transparency.
Tabe Haidar, CEO of the Arunachal Pradesh Industrial Investment Promotion (APIIP) and Joint Director (Investment), shared updates on the progress of EoDB implementation. He proudly stated that Arunachal Pradesh has been recognized as an ‘Aspirer’ in the Government of India’s EoDB rankings and has also been named the ‘Most Improved Small State in Governance’ by India Today. He further announced that Arunachal Pradesh is the first Northeastern state to connect with the National Single Window System, and the EoDB portal is now generating revenue, proving the success of the digital transition.
Several key decisions were made during the meeting. These included reducing the burden of compliance on businesses, making it mandatory for all departments to use the EoDB portal, creating a land bank to attract investors, and developing a comprehensive investment policy. Additionally, government departments were asked to stop using manual processes and transition completely to digital systems after providing necessary training and awareness programs.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks from Pallab Dey, Director (Planning), who reaffirmed the state’s dedication to making Arunachal Pradesh a top choice for investors and business owners.
Several important government officials attended the meeting, including the Advisor to the Deputy Chief Minister, Additional PCCF, Commissioners of Industries, Trade & Commerce, Agriculture, Horticulture, and other key department heads. (PR)
