NCC Cadet Dhruv Sharma, from the Jammu and Kashmir & Ladakh Directorate, has been selected to represent India in Bhutan under the prestigious Youth Exchange Programme (YEP). The visit, scheduled from December 12 to December 18, 2024, offers an opportunity to build cultural and interpersonal relations between the two nations.
A student of SPMR College and a member of 2 J&K Battalion NCC, Cadet Dhruv earned this honor following a stringent selection process during the Republic Day Parade 2024 in New Delhi. He was chosen from a competitive pool of cadets representing 17 NCC Directorates across India.
In a pre-departure interaction, Brigadier Pranab Misra, the Officiating Additional Director General of the NCC Directorate, Jammu and Kashmir & Ladakh, hailed Cadet Dhruv on his achievement. Brigadier Misra urged him to make the most of the opportunity by learning about Bhutan’s traditions, culture, and ethos while representing India with pride.
The Youth Exchange Programme aims to promote holistic development among NCC cadets and boost people-to-people relationships between India and partner countries. Such measures play a crucial role in enhancing India’s cultural diplomacy and building goodwill on an international level.
Cadet Dhruv’s selection emphasizes the caliber of young leaders emerging from the region and reflects the important role of the NCC in shaping responsible global citizens. (PR)
