Army Public School Damana celebrated its Annual Sports Day for the Junior Wing (Balvatika I to Class V) today on 10th December 2024 with great spirit and camaraderie on Monday. The event was graced by the school's chairman as the Chief Guest and the Chairperson of the FWO Chenab Brigade as the Guest of Honour.
The day started with a warm welcome by the school’s Principal, Mrs. Pushpinder Kaur, who welcomed the distinguished guests and dignitaries. The event was inaugurated with a Torch Run led by Ayansh Sharma, the Junior Sports Captain, followed by the ceremonious release of colorful balloons by the Guest of Honour, signifying the official opening of the meet.
A ceremonial lamp-lighting and a soul-stirring performance of Saraswati Vandana set a tone of reverence for the day. The opening ceremony also featured a well-synchronized March Past by the four House Contingents and the Cubs & Bulbul Contingent, leaving the audience in amazement at their discipline and coordination.
The sports day unfolded with a display of engaging events planned for students of all ages. Younger students from Balvatika participated in innovative races such as Threads and Beads, Button Up the Shirt, Hurdle Race, and Relay Race. Meanwhile, older students displayed their agility and perseverance in competitive races and team events.
Adding to the spectacle, students from Pre-Nursery to Class V presented stunning performances, including a Bhartyam dance and a Yoga display, highlighting the school’s commitment to physical fitness and holistic growth.
During the Prize Distribution Ceremony, winners of various races were awarded medals for their exceptional performances. Parents, who attended the event in large numbers, cheered enthusiastically, building a vibrant and supportive atmosphere.
In his speech, the Chairman of the school urged students to actively participate in sports to improve their stamina, strength, and overall well-being. He highlighted that sports are natural stress busters that help students manage academic pressure, build self-confidence, and instill a sense of achievement. The Headmistress, Mrs. Anurita Koul, also lauded the students for their dedication and participation, emphasizing the values of discipline, determination, and teamwork that sports promote.
The day concluded with the singing of the National Anthem, followed by light refreshments, leaving everyone inspired and energized. The success of the Annual Sports Day strengthened the school’s dedication to nurturing well-rounded individuals through physical education and teamwork. (PR)
