In a heartwarming gesture, Army Public School (APS) Damana, under the mentorship of Brig Vivek Puri, SM, Chairman of the school, organized a motivational and awareness session at the Borderless World Foundation (BWF), Jammu. The foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting girl children who have taken refuge due to terrorism or other hardships.
A group of 25 students from classes VI to IX, accompanied by the school counselor, visited the orphanage on October 11, 2024. The session, led by Mrs. Madhur Uppal, Counselor at APS Damana, focused on the topic “How to Handle Changes of Puberty and Adolescence.” The goal was to equip teenage girls with essential knowledge regarding their physical, emotional, and social development, empowering them to navigate the complexities of adolescence with confidence.
Mrs. Uppal emphasized the importance of understanding the natural physical and mental changes during puberty, reassuring the girls that these changes are normal and should not cause stress. The session aimed to foster compassion while sensitizing the children to the significance of self-care during this transitional phase.
In a gesture of kindness, the school also donated healthy snacks to the girls at the orphanage, reinforcing the message of collective responsibility towards vulnerable members of society.
Mrs. Pushpinder Kaur, Principal of APS Damana, remarked, "The world needs more kindness and humanity. Helping others goes beyond financial assistance; it involves giving time, love, and care. By uplifting those in need, we contribute to building a better society."
The event concluded on a positive note, with the children feeling empowered and reassured in their ability to face the challenges of adolescence, inspired by the compassion and support of their community.
