The Honour Run event was officially launched on 5 December at Gandiv Stadium, Jaipur Military Station, with a special Bib Expo and cultural performances. Shri Madan Dilawar, the Education and Panchayati Raj Minister of Rajasthan, was the chief guest at the event. Also present were Lieutenant General Manjinder Singh, Army Commander of Sapta Shakti Command, Mrs. BarinderJeet Kaur, President of AWWA, Sapta Shakti Command, and other important dignitaries, including Mrs. Ritu Gaur, General Manager of SBI, and Mrs. Deepa Malik, Padma Shri and Arjuna Awardee.
The Bib Expo offered an exciting experience for everyone with a series of thrilling performances by the Army. The audience enjoyed martial arts shows like Kalaripayattu and Gatka, along with a paramotor display and trick riding by the 61 Cavalry.
During the event, Shri Madan Dilawar and Lieutenant General Manjinder Singh, along with Mrs. BarinderJeet Kaur and other guests, handed over the first Bibs to well-known runners, marking the start of the Honour Run.
Inspirational speeches were given by special guests such as Paralympian Dr. Deepa Malik, Asian Marathon Champion Mrs. Sunita Godara, Para Athlete Colonel Anuj Bindra, and Mrs. Sangeeta Bishnoi. They motivated the crowd with their stories of determination and success.
The event was attended by senior army officials, students from Army Public Schools, and NCC cadets, who added to the vibrant atmosphere of the day.
Bib distribution for runners will continue on December 6 and will also be available for out-of-town participants on December 7.
The Honour Run, scheduled for December 8, 2024, will feature different race categories: 21 km, 10 km, and 5 km, along with a 3 km fun run. The event will be flagged off by Colonel Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Rajasthan's Minister for Industry & Commerce, IT & Communication. The Honour Run is dedicated to honoring the brave veterans of the Indian Army and promoting health and fitness among the public. (PR)
