Dr. S. Jaishankar Champions India-EU Partnership, Paving the Way for Trade and Tech Growth

India and the European Union (EU) recently held the 2nd India-EU Trade and Technology Council (TTC) meeting to strengthen their partnership in trade, technology and investment. The meeting was attended by key Indian leaders including External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal and Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. They were joined by important EU representatives such as Henna Virkkunen, European Commission Vice President Maroš Šefčovič and EU official Ekaterina Zaharieva. The meeting aimed to enhance cooperation between India and the EU in key sectors that drive economic growth and technological advancements.
The discussions focused on boosting digital partnerships, promoting clean and green energy and improving trade, investment and supply chain resilience. Both sides explored opportunities in emerging technologies such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), 6G, electric vehicles (EVs) and green hydrogen. These industries play a crucial role in modern economies, and collaboration in these fields is expected to create new job opportunities, boost innovation and contribute to sustainable development. Strengthening supply chains and making trade more efficient were also key priorities, ensuring that both India and the EU benefit from a stable and reliable economic partnership.
By working together India and the EU aim to create new business opportunities, enhance economic ties and develop a more resilient trade system. The India-EU TTC serves as a key platform for discussions, helping both sides align policies and explore new areas of cooperation. Strengthening trade and technology ties between India and the EU is not only beneficial for businesses but also for consumers, as it can lead to advancements in digital services, energy solutions and industrial innovation.
