Over 300 Ex-servicemen, Veer Naris, War Widows, and their families from Meghalaya gathered at the Ex-Servicemen Rally held at Happy Valley, Shillong. The event was organized by 58 GTC under Headquarters 101 Area to strengthen the connection between veterans, their dependents, and the Indian Army.
The rally was attended by key figures such as Shri CH Vijayashankar, the Hon’ble Governor of Meghalaya, Lt Gen Sanjay Malik, General Officer Commanding, 101 Area, and Air Marshal IS Walia, Senior Air Staff Officer, Eastern Air Command. These leaders interacted with the veterans and their families, showing their support for their welfare.
The Governor of Meghalaya talked about the government’s dedication to providing quality healthcare and resolving issues faced by Veer Naris and veterans, highlighting the importance of supporting them.
During the rally, Miss Silia Mary Kharbudnah received financial assistance of ₹20,000. In addition, sixty Veer Naris, Ex-servicemen, and widows were honored. Several stalls were set up to help attendees with benefits like pension assistance, banking, medical benefits, and other welfare schemes. Representatives from the Rajya Sainik Board, Ex-servicemen Contributory Health Scheme, and banks such as State Bank of India and ICICI Bank were present to assist with any concerns.
Stalls showcasing the State Government’s CM Elevate and Prime industries were also known. The event concluded with a sense of gratitude, as all attendees were reassured of the ongoing support from both the Indian Army and the State Government. (PR)
