SPAIN: India made a strong impression at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 in Barcelona, where Union Minister for Communications, Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, led the government’s participation. His visit shows India’s rapid digital growth, highlighting 5G expansion, affordable internet, homegrown telecom technology and improved cybersecurity.
During the event, Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia spoke at important sessions, including ‘Global Tech Governance: Rising to the Challenge’ and ‘Balancing Innovation & Regulation: Global Perspectives on Telecom Policy’. He described India’s four-point strategy for telecom progress: managing spectrum effectively to support smooth network operations, ensuring a stable market that encourages both competition and investment, creating regulatory policies that simplify telecom operations, and strengthening cybersecurity to protect users. He showed that India’s technology policies focus on innovation, inclusivity, sustainability and trust, making digital services accessible to all. He also praised initiatives like Aadhaar and BharatNet, which have helped connect millions of people across India.
Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia inaugurated the Bharat Pavilion, an exhibition organized by the Telecom Equipment & Services Export Promotion Council (TEPC) and supported by the Department of Telecommunications. The pavilion showcased 38 Indian telecom manufacturers, featuring the latest innovations in telecom hardware and software. The minister also introduced the upcoming India Mobile Congress 2025, a major industry event that will take place later this year. One of the highlights of the visit was the launch of VVDN’s AI-powered Wi-Fi 7, a new, high-tech wireless system developed in India. The minister also explored technology exhibits from major global players like Meta and Google Cloud, gaining insights into the latest advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) and next-generation mobile networks.
To build stronger global partnerships, Shri Scindia met with top industry leaders from Qualcomm, Cisco, Mavenir, Ericsson, Nokia, AMD, AT&T, Airtel, BSNL, CDOT, and TEPC during a special CEO networking dinner. He also held discussions with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to explore new opportunities in 5G, AI, and future telecom innovations. “India’s participation in MWC 2025 reflects our dedication to global collaboration, investment in digital infrastructure, and shaping policies for a sustainable and inclusive telecom sector,” the minister stated.
MWC 2025, with the theme “Converge. Connect. Create.”, is being held from March 3-6 in Barcelona.
