Namsai, December 13, 2024: The Golden Pagoda in Namsai witnessed the convergence of adventure, music, and culture as the Deputy Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Chowna Mein, flagged off the JKTYRE Orange 4x4 Fury 2024. This event marked the beginning of the 9th Orange Festival of Adventure and Music, a vibrant celebration of the state’s natural beauty, cultural richness, and adventurous spirit.
Addressing the gathering, Mein highlighted the growing importance of the festival, saying, “The Orange Festival has become a hallmark event for Arunachal Pradesh, drawing visitors from across the region and beyond. It beautifully merges adventure sports with our state’s unique cultural and natural heritage.”
Since its inception in 2015, the Orange Festival has carved a niche in the state’s tourism and cultural calendar, combining thrilling off-road races, adventure activities like river rafting and ziplining, and captivating musical performances. This year, 27 off-road vehicles are competing in two categories—Stock and Pro Mod—over the rugged terrains of Namsai and Dambuk.
Defending champions Team MOCCA from Arunachal Pradesh are set to defend their title, adding to the excitement. Enthusiasts from neighboring states, including Assam, have also joined the festival, some choosing to camp in tents for an immersive experience.
Speaking at the event, Secretary of Sports and Youth Affairs, Abu Tayeng, expressed the department’s intention to make the Orange Festival a calendar event. “By integrating Namsai into the 4x4 Fury, we aim to elevate the event further and inspire more youth to participate. This festival has immense potential to boost tourism and adventure sports in the region,” he said.
Chowna Mein also shared ambitious plans to elevate the festival to an international platform in the coming years, showcasing Arunachal Pradesh’s craft, cuisine, and culture. Reflecting on the festival’s growing appeal, Mein recalled Bollywood actor John Abraham’s recent visit, where he lauded Arunachal Pradesh’s potential in adventure tourism.
The event also featured the presence of key dignitaries, including Namsai DC C R Khampa, SP S Thinley, JK Tyre Motorsports Head of Operations Hari Singh, and Lhakpa Tsering, President of Adventure X Fusion Tribe.
The Orange Festival, set to continue through the weekend, promises an unforgettable experience blending adrenaline-pumping sports, soul-stirring music, and the rich cultural heritage of Arunachal Pradesh. Through initiatives like this, the state government aims to position Arunachal Pradesh as a premier hub for adventure tourism while fostering unity and pride among its people.(pr)
