The Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 is set to be a unique mix of spirituality and advanced technology. With around 45 crore devotees expected to attend, this iconic festival is using modern innovations to improve the experience for pilgrims from all over the world. The event will show how technology can enhance faith and the cultural traditions of Sanatan Dharma.
Cyber security is a major focus for the Maha Kumbh, given its global reach. The Uttar Pradesh government has made special arrangements to keep devotees safe online. A team of 56 cyber experts will monitor the event, and a dedicated cyber police station has been set up to tackle problems like fake websites and social media scams.
To raise awareness about online risks, 40 Variable Messaging Displays (VMDs) will be installed around the event. There will also be a helpline number, 1920, and verified government websites for information. Cyber experts will actively monitor threats and educate the public. Over 50 suspicious websites have already been flagged, and actions are being taken.
Maha Kumbh 2025 will offer new digital experiences for pilgrims. Inspired by Kumbh 2019, ten 360-degree virtual reality stalls will allow visitors to view major events like the Peshwai (grand procession), important bathing days, and Ganga Aarti in immersive detail.
One of the highlights of the event will be a spectacular drone show. A fleet of 2,000 drones will light up the night sky, telling stories from Hindu mythology like the "Prayag Mahatmyam" and the "Samudra Manthan." The show will create a magical experience for both locals and visitors.
A new area, Maha Kumbh Nagar, is being created with world-class facilities to accommodate the large number of visitors. The land and facility bookings will be available online, making it easy for visitors to access the information. GIS-based maps on Google Maps will guide pilgrims to key locations like hospitals, police stations, parking areas, and emergency services.
The government has also used drones to map the land and ensure accurate land allotments. This digital system minimizes waiting times and physical appointments, ensuring everything runs smoothly.
The safety of devotees is a top priority. High-tech security measures, such as remote-controlled life buoys, will help during emergencies, especially in water-related incidents. Underwater drones will provide 24/7 surveillance in the Sangam and AI-powered cameras and drones will monitor the event for any suspicious activity. Anti-drone systems will also be in place to prevent unauthorized flying objects.
For the first time, the Maha Kumbh will have digital Lost and Found centers. If anyone goes missing, they will be digitally registered, and updates will be shared through public announcements and social media platforms like Facebook and X. The state police will help reunite lost pilgrims with their families.
Visitors can easily book their stay at the Maha Kumbh Gram from January 10 to February 28 through the IRCTC website or its partners like Make My Trip and Go IBIBO. The Tent City will provide first aid services and will be under constant surveillance to ensure the safety of the guests.
Maha Kumbh 2025 will be a transformative event that blends spiritual traditions with modern technology. Thanks to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the efforts of the Uttar Pradesh government, this year’s Kumbh will not only be a spiritual gathering but also a model for how technology and faith can work together. The event promises to be a global celebration of cultural unity, bringing millions of people together in devotion and progress. (PR)
