Assam Rifles conducted a successful safety operation on February 21, intercepting a large stock of explosives in Sakawrtuichhun, Aizawl, Mizoram. Based on specific intelligence, security personnel set up a checkpoint on Sakawrtuichhun Quarry Road and seized nearly 623 kg of emulsion explosives.
According to officers, a Tata 407 commercial vehicle traveling from Aizawl to Sakawrtuichhun was stopped for inspection. During the search, they found 4,980 sticks of Neo Gel 90, a powerful explosive commonly used in mining and construction.
Three people—two women and one man—were arrested in connection with the case and handed over to Vaivakawn police for further questioning. Investigators are still trying to resolve the reason for transporting such a large quantity of explosives and whether there are any links to illegal activities.
Security forces have increased monitoring in the area to prevent unauthorized movement of explosives. Officers have assured strict action against those involved in unlawful activities.
Further investigations are underway to resolve where the explosives came from and where they were intended to be delivered. (PR)
