Today, a special event was held at the Rudra Singha Sports Complex in Dispur to celebrate the NCC cadets who returned from the Republic Day Camp (RDC) 2025 in New Delhi. The ceremony was attended by Assam's Minister of Sports and Youth Welfare, Shrimati Nandita Garlosa, who was the chief guest.
This year, the North Eastern Region (NER) of the NCC made history by sending its largest-ever group to RDC, with 176 cadets, 89 of whom were from Assam. Their hard work and dedication were recognized, making the state and country very proud.
One of the biggest highlights was the NER cadets’ original song, “Desh,” which won the award for Best Song at RDC. Twelve cadets from NER also marched in the famous Kartavya Path Parade, and eleven were chosen for the Special Guard of Honour.
A proud moment for Assam came when Senior Under Officer (SUO) Gracy Marak from the state was selected as the Parade Commander for the Prime Minister’s Rally. Additionally, the Mixed Pipe and Drums Band, made up of 45 cadets from Mizoram, won the title of ‘Best Band of NCC 2024-25.’
SUO Aryamitra Nath from 8 Assam Bn NCC, Nagaon, was awarded the Raksha Mantri Padak for his outstanding service, while Lieutenant Moitree Hazarika from South Point School in Guwahati received the Rajya Raksha Mantri Padak for her exceptional contributions to the NCC.
In her speech, Shrimati Nandita Garlosa praised the cadets for their hard work, saying, “The NCC is important in turning our youth into disciplined, responsible, and patriotic citizens. These cadets set a great example with their achievements.”
The event ended with the cadets receiving congratulations and motivation to continue serving the country with pride and to keep striving for excellence in everything they do. (PR)
