Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in the All India Conference of Director Generals/Inspector Generals of Police, to be held from November 30 to December 1, 2024, at the State Convention Centre, Lok Seva Bhawan, Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
The three-day occasion, beginning today, will address critical national security matters, including Counter-Terrorism, Left Wing Extremism, Coastal Security, Narcotics, and the implementation of new criminal laws. The summit will also feature the presentation of the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service to outstanding officers.
This forum provides a platform for senior police officials and security officers from across the country to deliberate on challenges in policing, crime control, and internal security. Discussions will focus on professional practices, operational procedures, and infrastructural improvements to improve the effectiveness of law enforcement.
Notably, this year's conference will feature yoga sessions, business meetings, breakout talks, and thematic dining affairs, ensuring a holistic approach to addressing the complexities of modern policing.
Prime Minister Modi has consistently shown a keen interest in the conference, urging open and informal discussions. His proactive involvement has facilitated the exchange of innovative ideas and practical solutions.
Since 2014, the Prime Minister has endorsed for holding the annual DGsP/IGsP Conference across various locations, making it more inclusive and regionally representative. Past venues include Guwahati, Rann of Kachchh, Hyderabad, Tekanpur, Kevadiya, Pune, Lucknow, New Delhi, and Jaipur. The 59th edition of the conference continues this practice by being hosted in Bhubaneswar.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, the Prime Minister’s Principal Secretary, and Ministers of State for Home Affairs will join the summit alongside state DGPs, UT police chiefs, and heads of central police organizations.
