The recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, has once again shaken the nation. Innocent lives have been lost, and just like every other time, the silence from the central government is raising serious questions. Congress leaders have strongly condemned the incident and held the BJP-led government accountable for repeated failures in ensuring national security.
Rajesh Kumar Sethi, National Coordinator of the AICC Minority Department and in-charge of Manipur, made a sharp statement directly targeting the Prime Minister and Home Minister.
Every time there’s a terror attack, the Prime Minister and Home Minister disappear. This isn’t just a one-time lapse. Its part of a bigger pattern a complete failure of the Modi-Shah government’s security policy, he said.
Sethi added, Why isn’t Prime Minister Narendra Modi answering the same questions he used to ask Congress when he was in the opposition? Back then he would ask how do terrorists manage to enter India with weapons despite tight security? Now that he’s in power, why is he silent?
He further said that the so-called “New Kashmir” promised by the government has turned into a land of fear and bloodshed. There’s no peace. No development. Just more violence. And after every incident, the government follows the same script — express condolences, tweet condemnation, and then go quiet.
Rajya Sabha MP Imran Pratapgarhi also took to “X” (@ShayarImran) and expressed his anger.
“What happened in Pahalgam is heartbreaking and terrifying. Tourists were killed. Many injured. If everything in Kashmir is so normal, as the government claims, then why do these attacks keep happening?”
He added, The time for empty speeches is over. The government must own up to its failures. The country is united against terrorism, but when will this government start taking real responsibility? How many more times will it fail before action is taken?
The Congress Party has made four clear demands:
- A fair and transparent investigation into the security lapse that led to the Pahalgam attack
- Immediate compensation and best medical support for the victims and their families
- A complete review of the current security strategy in Jammu and Kashmir
- The resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah
The message from Congress leaders is clear condolences are not enough anymore. What the nation needs is accountability.
National security is not about slogans. Its about serious commitment. And when a government consistently fails in that duty, raising your voice is not just necessary its your responsibility.(PR)
