Nagaland Advisor of IPR, SCERT, and Village Guards Toshi Wungtung passed away yesterday morning after a brief illness at Delhi's BLK Hospital in New Delhi.
Lt. Toshi Wungtung was the son of Former Nagaland Minister K. Yamakam Yimchunger. He was known to be soft-spoken in nature as well as an outspoken advocate on environmental protection, promotion of Naga cultural identity and traditions, and on Naga political issues.
His memorial prayer service was held on the lawns of Nagaland House in New Delhi yesterday evening. Nagaland Chief Minister Shri. Neiphiu Rio and his wife, Deputy Chief Minister Y. Patton, Ministers- Temjen Imna Along, Kashiho Sangtam, Lok Sabha MP Tokheho Yepthomi, and many other dignitaries Mr. Abu Metha, Mr. Rusem, Mr. Jyoti Kailash, President of NSUD and EDENSU attended the Program and laid wreath in his honor.
Hon'ble Chief Minister of Nagaland in his speech expressed deep sorrow over the untimely demise of Shri. Toshi. He described Lt. Toshi as a great and very promising leader of eastern Nagaland. He said that his death is a great loss himself and to Nagaland as well.
The service was conducted by NCF Pastor Rev Ricky Medom, while brief speeches were delivered by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, State BJP President and Minister Temjen Imna Along, Ministers Kashiho Sangtam, NSUD, EDENSU, and family members.
The body along with the family members has been taken to Dimapur today, and the state funeral service will be held tomorrow morning 3 July 2021 at his Dimapur residence.
