The Rengma Selo Zi (RSZ) has thanked law enforcement and community leaders for their quick action in arresting those responsible for harassing and assaulting three youths on December 16, 2024, in Dimapur.
The RSZ said that the swift response brought relief and restored a sense of security in the community. They commended the authorities for their strong stance against such acts, which threaten peace and harmony.
The group also expressed gratitude to civil society groups and individuals who stood by the victims and the RSZ during this tough time. “Your support shows the strength and unity of the Naga community,” they said.
The RSZ warned that any future incidents of harassment or violence would be met with firm action. “We will not tolerate any harm to innocent people. The safety and dignity of our community are our top priorities,” the statement read.
The group also demanded that the NSCN (Akato) immediately remove the seven culprits involved in the assault from its ranks. “These individuals have no place in an organization representing the Naga people’s aspirations,” they declared.
The RSZ encouraged citizens to stay alert and report any activities that could harm peace. They promised to continue working with the authorities and the community to create a safer and more inclusive society, ensuring such incidents don’t happen again. (PR)
