London: On December 9, 2024, INS Tushil, the latest multi-role stealth-guided missile frigate of the Talwar class, was officially commissioned into the Indian Navy at the Yantar Shipyard in Kaliningrad, Russia. This landmark event, attended by Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh, marked a major milestone in the growing strategic partnership between India and Russia.

Following its commissioning, INS Tushil, now designated F70, embarked on its journey from Russia to India and made a historic port call at the HMS Belfast in London yesterday. The ship sailed under the iconic Tower Bridge, a symbolic passage that highlighted the ship’s remarkable journey and growing international recognition. This stop in London further exemplifies the Indian Navy’s expanding global presence and the strengthening of international naval cooperation.

Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh, in his address at the commissioning ceremony, praised the ship as a testament to India’s technological excellence and its deepening ties with Russia. He pointed out that the increasing “Made in India” content in many ships, including INS Tushil, showcases the successful collaboration between Russian and Indian industries. He also highlighted how this partnership aligns with India’s vision of ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ and the strengthening of India’s naval capabilities.
