The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has signed a contract worth ₹697.35 crore with ACE Limited and JCB India Limited to purchase 1,868 Rough Terrain Fork Lift Trucks (RTFLTs). The deal was signed in the presence of Defence Secretary Shri R K Singh.
These forklifts will be used by the Indian Army, Indian Air Force, and Indian Navy to transport heavy equipment and supplies more efficiently, reducing the need for manual labor. This will help improve logistics operations and combat readiness.
The procurement is part of the ‘Buy (Indian)’ initiative, aimed at boosting domestic defence manufacturing. The project is expected to create new jobs, especially for small and medium-sized businesses involved in making parts for these trucks.
This move is a key step in modernizing India’s defence infrastructure and promoting self-reliance in military equipment production, in line with the ‘Aatmnirbhar Bharat’ (Self-Reliant India) vision. (PR)
