Deputy Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Chowna Mein, attended the 55th GST Council Meeting in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, chaired by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. Key dignitaries, including Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary, were also present. Deputy CM Mein was joined by Y W Ringu, Commissioner (Finance, Tax & Excise), and Lobsang Tsering, Commissioner (Tax & Excise and Narcotics).
At the meeting, Deputy CM Mein reiterated Arunachal Pradesh’s strong support for GST reforms that aim to promote economic growth and make keeping easier for businesses and taxpayers. The meeting covered important topics to improve the GST system, including simplifying tax rates, maintaining legal structures, and improving support for taxpayers through better grievance redressal mechanisms.
The agenda also included expanding exemptions in key areas like health insurance, life insurance, and research for public welfare. The council also discussed improving the process for GST dispute resolution and providing timely settlement of GST revenue to states.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy CM Mein said, “Arunachal Pradesh is committed to reforms that simplify the GST system, guarantee fairness, and address the unique needs of our state. These changes will help promote ease of doing business and boost development.”
The 55th GST Council Meeting brought together Chief Ministers, Deputy Chief Ministers, Finance Ministers, and senior officials from across India to discuss these crucial reforms.
