The fourth meeting of the India-Russia Working Group on Military Cooperation recently concluded in Moscow. The meeting marked an important step in improving the long-term partnership between the two countries.
The meeting was led by Lieutenant General JP Mathew, India's Chief of Integrated Defence Staff, and Lieutenant General Dylevsky Igor Nikolaevich, Deputy Chief of Russia's General Staff. They discussed the importance of sharing knowledge and working together in areas of mutual interest. They also agreed to increase joint military exercises to improve cooperation between their forces.
India and Russia have regularly conducted joint exercises in land, air, and sea operations, such as INDRA, AVIA INDRA, and INDRA NAVY. These exercises help both countries improve their tactics and strengthen their partnership.
The India-Russia Strategic Partnership was first signed in 2000 and upgraded to a "Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership" in 2010. The Working Group is an important platform for reviewing current military cooperation and finding new ways to address security challenges.(PR)
