The vessel arrived in Port Stanley on February 18, 2024, completing the second phase of its global voyage. The expedition is led by two women officers of the Indian Navy, Lieutenant Commander Dilna K and Lieutenant Commander Roopa A. Their journey demonstrates India's commitment to increasing women's participation in challenging fields such as defense and navigation.
While in Stanley, the crew carried out essential repairs and maintenance after encountering difficulties in the dangerous Drake Passage, known for its rough seas and strong winds. Their skills and determination ensured that Tarini was fully prepared for the next stage of its journey.
The presence of INSV Tarini in Stanley attracted many visitors, including members of the Indian community, local sailing enthusiasts, and tourists. They were inspired by the officers' bravery and listened to their stories of navigating harsh sea conditions.
The Navika Sagar Parikrama II expedition is a significant milestone in India's maritime history. The successful progress of Tarini through some of the world’s toughest sea routes serves as an inspiration to sailors and adventurers everywhere.
As Tarini continues toward Cape Town, it stands as a symbol of India's strength in maritime exploration. The officers on board are proving that with courage and determination, there are no limits to what can be achieved at sea. (PR)
