Sunil Deodhar, a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has been awarded an honorary Doctor of Literature (D.Litt.) by the Arunachal University of Studies (AUS) in recognition of his outstanding contributions to social service. The honor was presented on Tuesday by Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein in a ceremony attended by distinguished guests.
Among the attendees were Chancellor Kamal Lochan, Pro-Chancellor Vishwa Lochan, and Duothob Yangtsep, President of the World Education Mission and former Bhutanese parliamentarian.
During the event, Pro-Chancellor Vishwa Lochan praised Deodhar’s commitment to social welfare, describing him as an individual who has selflessly dedicated his life to serving society. He emphasized that Deodhar’s efforts not only bring personal fulfillment but also inspire countless others to work towards meaningful change in the world.
Sunil Deodhar has made a significant impact through his grassroots activism and strategic political initiatives. In 2004, he launched My Home India, a program designed to support students from Northeast India who move to different parts of the country for education. This initiative has also played a role in reducing separatist tendencies in certain Northeastern communities by fostering a sense of unity.
Beyond this, he has led various humanitarian efforts, including Sapno Se Apno Tak, which has helped reunite over 3,700 missing children with their families. He also initiated Dard Se Hamdard Tak, providing legal aid to more than 400 prison inmates, and Jan Aarogya Raksha, which has facilitated medical treatment for over one lakh patients in recent years.
The honorary doctorate awarded by AUS serves as a recognition of Deodhar’s tireless efforts in social reform and humanitarian service. His work continues to make a lasting impact, touching the lives of thousands and fostering positive change in society. (PR)
