The Indian Army’s renowned Tiger Division has successfully concluded its challenging Chandigarh to Manali Cycle Expedition, which ran from September 25 to October 16, 2024. Covering an impressive distance of 1,190 kilometers, the expedition aimed to pay tribute to India’s esteemed veterans while inspiring the nation's youth to explore opportunities within the Army.
A dedicated team of 13 cyclists from the “Uttam Unnees” Regiment showcased extraordinary endurance and determination throughout the 28-day journey. The cyclists navigated rugged terrains and faced varying weather conditions in the majestic Himalayas, reflecting their commitment and resilience.
The expedition route included key locations such as Chandigarh, Jhakri, Pooh, Sipki La, Sumdo, Kaurik, Shego, Kaza, Kuzumla, Batal, Manali, Pandoh, Bilaspur, and returned to Chandigarh. Along the way, the team interacted with local communities in ten villages—Wangtu, Tapri, Jeori, Rakcham, Kalpa, Powari, Lossar, Koksar, Sissu, and Gondhla—sharing stories of bravery and resilience that embody the core values of the Indian Army.
The journey culminated in a heartfelt flagging-in ceremony held in Jammu, led by Major General Mukesh Bhanwala, General Officer Commanding of the Tiger Division. This significant event celebrated not only the successful completion of the expedition but also the enduring spirit of service, camaraderie, and commitment to the nation.
This initiative highlights the Indian Army's dedication to honoring its veterans' legacy while motivating young Indians to embrace a life of service and leadership. By connecting generations, the Army instills pride, purpose, and responsibility in the youth, shaping the future of the nation.
