Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, held a high-level meeting in New Delhi to review the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir. Several key officials attended the meeting, including Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha, the Union Home Secretary, the Director of the Intelligence Bureau, the Chief Secretary, and the Director General of Police of Jammu and Kashmir. Senior officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and the Jammu and Kashmir administration were also present. The day before, Shri Amit Shah had chaired another important meeting focused on security matters. This meeting was attended by the Chief of the Army Staff, General Upendra Dwivedi, along with the Home Secretary and other senior officials from the MHA and the Army. During the discussions, Shri Amit Shah emphasized the government’s commitment to eliminating terrorism from Jammu and Kashmir under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He noted that due to continued and coordinated efforts, terrorism in the region has been significantly weakened. The Home Minister directed security agencies to enhance their efforts in combating terrorism, stressing the need for ‘zero infiltration.’ He urged authorities to take a strict approach against infiltration and terror-related activities, ensuring that terrorist networks are completely dismantled. Shri Amit Shah also pointed out that drug trafficking is being used to fund terrorist activities. He stressed the importance of taking immediate and firm action to cut off terror funding originating from the narcotics trade. He highlighted the need to break this network to ensure peace and stability in the region. Additionally, the Home Minister instructed officials to speed up hiring in Forensic Science Laboratories (FSL) to support the implementation of new criminal laws effectively. Reaffirming the government’s strong stance against terrorism, Shri Amit Shah encouraged security forces to stay alert and work together to make Jammu and Kashmir a terrorism-free region. He also appreciated the efforts of security agencies in improving safety and praised them for their significant contributions to counter-terrorism operations.
