The ceremony celebrated the grand Murugan temple in Jakarta and PM Modi praised the efforts of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, religious leaders, and the Indian community who helped build the temple.He explained that the relationship between India and Indonesia goes beyond politics, and is deeply rooted in shared culture, history, and spirituality. Modi pointed out that the two countries have been connected for centuries through common religious beliefs and traditions. Figures like Lord Murugan, Lord Ram, and Lord Buddha are symbols of this connection.PM Modi also highlighted Indonesia’s rich Hindu and Buddhist traditions, pointing to famous temples like the Prambanan Temple and the Borobudur Stupa, which show the influence of Indian culture. Both countries share the influence of the Ramayana, a sacred text. He also mentioned the Odisha Bali Jatra festival, which celebrates ancient sea trade connections between India and Indonesia.Talking about the new Murugan Temple in Jakarta, PM Modi called it a “golden chapter” in India-Indonesia relations. He praised the temple for representing different gods, showing India’s idea of “Unity in Diversity” and Indonesia’s own philosophy of “Bhinneka Tunggal Ika” (Unity in Diversity).The Prime Minister also talked about India’s efforts to protect and restore cultural sites, like the Prambanan and Borobudur temples, to preserve the shared heritage.
