Agartala: In a heartwarming display of solidarity and gratitude, the Indian Army organized a grand Ex-Servicemen (ESM) Rally at Agartala Military Station, Tripura, under the aegis of Spear Corps on 12 April 2025. The event aimed at strengthening the enduring bond between the Army and its veterans, under the noble motto of Connect, Care, Share & Solve.

The rally saw an overwhelming turnout, with over 1150 Ex-Servicemen, their dependents, 12 Veer Naris and Veer Matas, along with three gallantry awardees and battle casualties in attendance. The gathering served as a platform to not only honour the brave hearts who once donned the uniform but also to resolve their post-retirement concerns and grievances through comprehensive support.

The Chief Guest, Lt Gen Abhijit S Pendharkar, AVSM, YSM, General Officer Commanding, Spear Corps, inaugurated the event with a warm welcome address, followed by an emotional felicitation ceremony for the Veer Naris and Veterans—paying tribute to their invaluable service and supreme sacrifices.

A wide range of support stalls were established, including Veterans Sewa Kendra, ECHS Cell, Grievance Cell, AFD (Against Firm Demand) Cell, and departments related to Fisheries, Horticulture, MSME, and Skill Development. These ensured veterans had access to critical resources and assistance under one roof.

A special highlight was the setting up of a ‘SPARSH Cell’, specifically dedicated to resolving queries and concerns regarding the new pension administration system, SPARSH (System for Pension Administration - Raksha). Bank officials, Regimental Records personnel, Defence Account authorities, and State Government representatives were also present to provide instant guidance and documentation support.

The medical camp set up as part of the rally—complete with an eye clinic and dental care unit—was facilitated through coordination with the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS), offering much-needed medical attention to the veterans and their families.

Lt Gen Pendharkar personally interacted with the veterans, Veer Naris, and their families, listening to their concerns and extending heartfelt thanks on behalf of the Indian Army. His words resonated deeply as he reaffirmed the Army’s unwavering commitment to those who have served the nation with courage and honor.

This Ex-Servicemen Rally at Agartala stands as a shining testament to the Indian Army’s ethos of camaraderie, respect, and continued support for its veterans. It not only reconnected old bonds but also addressed vital needs, reaffirming that the spirit of the Indian Armed Forces lives on—united in duty, even beyond service.
