On February 5, 2025, The Indian Army quickly came to the aid of authorities after a train collision and derailment near Fatehpur, Uttar Pradesh, located about 70 km from Prayagraj. The incident took place at 9 AM on February 4, when a moving goods train collided with a stationary one, leading to the derailment of a locomotive and a guard’s coach. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported.
In response to a request from the District Magistrate of Prayagraj, the Indian Army mobilised a specialist Engineer Task Force (ETF) to the site. The team arrived with all necessary equipment, including heavy machinery and vehicles, to help clear the tracks. They successfully removed one of the derailed guard wagons, and work is ongoing to clear the derailed locomotive using high-duty poclains, powerful machines designed for such tasks.
At the same time, the Indian Railways is working to lift the engine with a vertical lifting operation. Army dozers have been deployed to help with clearing debris from the site and moving the wreckage off the track. These efforts are crucial to ensuring that the train services are restored as soon as possible.
The Indian Army remains fully committed to providing all necessary support to ensure a fast and efficient recovery from the accident, aiming to restore normal railway operations in the area at the earliest.(PR)
