On World Cancer Day, the Indian Army organized medical camps and awareness programs in different parts of Manipur. These camps were held in Kanglatongbi (Imphal West), Shantipur (Bishnupur), and Nongdam Tangkhul (Imphal East) to provide healthcare services and educate people about cancer.
In Kanglatongbi, a medical camp was set up where five Army doctors, including a specialist and a dentist, treated over 300 people, including women and children. They also distributed medical equipment like wheelchairs, nebulizers, glucometers, steamers, walking aids, and lumbar belts, along with medicines.
Another medical camp in Shantipur village, Bishnupur district, helped around 350 residents. Army doctors conducted health check-ups, provided medical advice, and gave treatments. A special counter was set up to give medicines after consultations. Additionally, people were given information about cancer prevention, early signs, and treatment options.
To educate students, the Army organized a session at St. Francis of Assisi School in Nongdam Tangkhul, Imphal East. About 60 students from Classes 8 to 10 attended the session, where they learned about cancer risks, ways to prevent it, and the importance of regular health check-ups. They were encouraged to share this knowledge with their families and communities.
With these programs, the Indian Army continues to support healthcare in remote areas, showing its commitment to the well-being of people in Manipur. (PR)
