Dr. Vishwamitra Batra, a well-known doctor and humanitarian, was honored with the 11th Swami Vivekananda Smriti Karmayogi Award by My Home India. The award recognizes his 43 years of selfless service to tribal communities in the Khasi Hills of Meghalaya. The ceremony was held at Akashvani Bhawan, New Delhi, and attended by many dignitaries and well-wishers.
Dr. Batra, originally from Delhi, chose to dedicate his life to helping people in remote areas of Meghalaya. Despite tough conditions and unrest in the region, he worked hard to provide medical care and bring communities together. His efforts helped build trust and unity, making him one of the few non-tribals honored at a tribal forum.
The event was attended by guests from the Northeast, senior members of the RSS, BJP leaders, and others. Shri Sunil Deodhar, founder of My Home India, praised Dr. Batra, saying his work shows how compassion and hard work can heal communities.
Dr. Batra thanked the Khasi community while receiving the award. “This award belongs to the people of the Khasi Hills, who taught me the real meaning of service and unity,” he said.
The Swami Vivekananda Karmayogi Award celebrates people who dedicate their lives to helping others. Dr. Batra’s story is an inspiring example of how selfless service can make a big difference in society. (PR)
