The Defence Research Laboratory (DRL), the only
DRDO lab in Northeast India, celebrated its 63rd Lab Raising Day today with
enthusiasm and pride. The occasion, held at the lab’s premises in Tezpur, got
together dignitaries, retired personnel, and staff to mark over six decades of
contributions to national security and scientific innovation.
Dr. Bidyut Chandan Deka, Vice Chancellor of Assam
Agricultural University (AAU), Jorhat, graced the event as the Chief Guest. The
occasion also featured Shri Ankur Bharali, District Commissioner of Sonitpur,
and Brig. Saurabh Joshi, Commander of the 375 Composite Artillery Brigade, as
Guests of Honor.
In his welcome speech, DRL Director Mr. Dev Vrat
Kamboj emphasized the lab’s accomplishments over the past year and stressed the
necessity for reformation and change within research and development (R&D)
organizations. He highlighted DRL’s commitment to handling emerging challenges
and improving performance through innovation.
A video documentary shown during the occasion displayed
DRL’s illustrious journey, its research milestones, and the lab’s contributions
to national security and technological progress.
Brig. Saurabh Joshi hailed DRL for its innovative
technological solutions tailored to the challenges encountered by Army
personnel in the Northeast. He described the lab as a vital contributor to
nation-building, addressing the unique operational demands of the region.
Dr. Deka praised DRL’s R&D efforts and called
for a stronger partnership between the lab and Assam Agricultural University.
Emphasizing the potential for collaborative initiatives, he voiced optimism
about future synergy propelling innovative research and achieving shared goals.
The celebrations also saw the participation of
retired DRL officers and staff, whose company represented the lab’s
long-lasting legacy.
The 63rd Lab Raising Day provided a forum to
reflect on DRL’s amazing journey while reaffirming its dedication to
distinction in research and development. The occasion ended with a renewed
promise to promote scientific innovation and contribute to the nation’s
