Patna, April 21, 2025 —
The skies of Patna are set to transform into a theatre of patriotism, precision, and power as the Indian Air Force’s elite Suryakiran Aerobatic Team (SKAT) touches down in the city for a spectacular air show on April 22 and 23. The air show, organized on the banks of the Ganga at Jananayak Ganga Path, promises to be a never-before experience for the people of Bihar.
The grand aerial spectacle comes right after the team enthralled Ranchi and is now geared up to paint the Patna skies red—with smoke trails of saffron, white, and green—in honour of Babu Veer Kunwar Singh Jayanti, celebrated as Shaurya Diwas.
A Salute to Bravery and Legacy
April 23 marks the birth anniversary of Babu Veer Kunwar Singh, the lion-hearted leader of the 1857 First War of Independence. As a tribute to his valor and legacy, SKAT will perform synchronized aerial stunts, including a special flypast during the National Anthem, leaving behind tricolor trails in the sky—a gesture aimed at connecting the spirit of India’s freedom struggle with the present-day courage of its armed forces.
Dedicated Day for Students
April 22 has been specially earmarked for school and college students, offering them a golden opportunity to witness the might and discipline of the Indian Air Force up close. Nine Hawk Mk-132 aircraft will execute breathtaking maneuvers like barrel rolls, loops, and the iconic "DNA" formation—flying less than five metres apart. The aim is to ignite the flame of patriotism and inspire young minds to consider a career in the Indian Air Force.
A Show of Skill and Teamwork
Led by Group Captain Ajay Dasarathi, the team comprises 14 highly-trained pilots, all flying Indian-built Hawk jets. Each display is the result of countless hours of rigorous training, precision, and seamless coordination. From inverted flying to crisscross formations, every move is a testimony to India’s growing prowess in aviation and aeronautics.
Innovation with Indigenous Pride
Adding a new visual punch to this year’s show are the newly integrated smoke pods on the aircraft, designed indigenously by the Indian Air Force’s Base Repair Depot in Nashik. These pods enable the aircraft to release colored smoke, showcasing the national flag in the sky and reinforcing the Make-in-India spirit.
An Event to Remember
Patna hasn’t seen anything like this before. As thousands gather along the Jananayak Ganga Path, the city will witness more than just an air show—it will witness a story of valor, unity, and pride written across the sky.
Senior IAF officers, state dignitaries, and proud citizens will be part of this unique celebration. For the people of Bihar, especially the youth, this is not just a show—it’s a message: to dream big, fly high, and always serve the nation.
So this April 22 and 23, look up and salute the sky. The Suryakirans are coming, and they’re bringing with them a storm of pride, precision, and patriotism.(PR)
