In a courageous display of bravery, an army officer from Rangapahar Military Station in Dimapur, Nagaland, rescued two young boys from drowning in the Dhansari River on the afternoon of October 27, 2024.
The two boys, aged 5 and 6, were playing near the riverbank when they accidentally slipped and fell into the deep, muddy waters of the river. Unable to overcome the strong currents, they were pulled downstream, struggling to stay afloat.
At this critical moment, Major Vishavdeep Singh Attri, an officer stationed at Rangapahar, was passing by and heard the desperate cries of a woman and the boys calling for help. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, Major Attri acted without hesitation, diving into the river to reach the children. As a trained swimmer, he skillfully fought the currents, mud, and dense vegetation to save the two young boys.
After a tense struggle against the elements, Major Attri successfully brought both children to the riverbank, where they were reunited with their relieved and grateful families. Thanks to his quick response and decisive actions, the boys escaped with no major injuries, averting what could have been a tragic incident.
