In a series of successful joint operations, the Indian Army, along with Assam Rifles, Manipur Police, and other security forces, has recovered a substantial cache of arms and ammunition in the hill and valley regions of Manipur over the past week. The operations were executed based on specific intelligence, showcasing a high level of coordination and synergy among the forces involved.
On October 7, 2024, a significant operation in Bishnupur district resulted in the recovery of multiple weapons, including one Carbine Machine, an AK-47 rifle, a 12 Bore Single Barrel Rifle, a 12 Bore pistol, and a 2.5 Kg Improvised Explosive Device (IED). The operation also yielded grenades and various warlike stores in the Gelbung area. Additionally, two country-made mortars (Pompi), two country-made pistols, and grenades were seized from the Kangvai area in Churachandpur district.
The following day, on October 8, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police targeted a suspected hideout in Khelakhong, Imphal West, where they recovered a 7.62 mm SLR rifle, a .303 rifle, a 9 mm pistol, grenades, and other warlike supplies.
Further consolidating their efforts, on October 9, the forces conducted an operation in Champai, Sagolmang, located in Imphal East district, leading to the recovery of one M-16 rifle, two SLRs, a .22 rifle, a country-made Sten gun, two carbines, eight country-made 9 mm pistols, along with ammunition, grenades, and other warlike stores.
These operations underscore the commitment of the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, and local law enforcement agencies to ensuring the safety and security of the region.
