Aimed at fostering unity and understanding among the youth, the Indian Army has flagged off a 10-day "National Integration Tour" under Operation Sadbhavana for nine Youth Ambassadors from Manipur. The tour was inaugurated by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Red Shield Division on 14 October 2024 at Koirengei, located in the Imphal East district of Manipur.
The tour, which runs from 14 to 23 October 2024, will take the young participants through several culturally rich and diverse locations, including Kolkata, Tawang, and Shillong. The itinerary is designed to immerse the Youth Ambassadors in the unique heritage of these regions, while also providing insights into the operations and ethos of the Indian Army.
The group will start their journey in Kolkata, where they will visit notable sites such as the iconic Victoria Memorial and partake in a Heritage Walk at Fort William. They will also tour the Headquarters of the Eastern Command, gaining a deeper understanding of the Army’s role in the region.
The next leg of the tour will take them to Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh, where they will experience the breathtaking landscapes of Sela Pass, Sela Lake, and Madhuri Lake. Additionally, the Youth Ambassadors will visit the revered Tawang Monastery and pay homage at BumLa and the Tawang War Memorial, honoring the valiant soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the 1962 Indo-China War.
The final phase of the tour will be in Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya, where the group will explore various scenic locations and cultural landmarks. They are also scheduled to meet the Honorable Governor of Meghalaya, marking the culmination of their enriching journey on 23 October 2024 back in Imphal.
