Colonel A Rajiv, a distinguished officer of the Army Education Corps, officially took charge as the new Principal of Sainik School Imphal on October 17, 2024. With nearly three decades of experience in educational roles within the Indian Army, Col Rajiv brings extensive expertise to his new role. His background includes significant appointments at various military institutions and strategic headquarters, where he has contributed to the academic and leadership growth of cadets across the country.
Col Rajiv’s career has encompassed key educational roles, notably as Registrar at Sainik School Balachari in Jamnagar, Gujarat, and Principal of Sainik School Kazhakootam in Kerala, where he was also a cadet. He is also a decorated officer who served as an Infantry Company Commander in the Naga Regiment in Drass during the 1999 Kargil War.
Today, Col Rajiv met with Shri Th Basanta Singh, the Education Minister of Manipur, to discuss the school’s achievements and areas for development. Col Rajiv shared that 14 cadets from Sainik School Imphal have recently passed the written examination for the National Defence Academy (NDA), conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). He highlighted various areas where improvements in school facilities would benefit students’ overall development and enhance the institution’s academic standards.
In response, Minister Th Basanta Singh assured his commitment to supporting the school’s growth, emphasizing the government’s intent to foster an environment conducive to academic excellence and holistic development. The meeting concluded with mutual agreements on measures to further strengthen Sainik School Imphal’s infrastructure and educational offerings, aiming to set new benchmarks for the institution’s future achievements.
