In observance of the International Day of Older Persons, the Indian Army extended a hand of support to senior citizens by organizing a medical camp at Old Age Homes in Kumbi and Naodakhong, located in Manipur’s Bishnupur district. The initiative took place on October 1, 2024, as part of the army’s ongoing efforts to aid local communities in need.
A dedicated team comprising army doctors and nursing staff offered comprehensive healthcare services, including health check-ups, consultations, and treatments. The medical camp provided care to 83 senior citizens, 35 of whom were women. Medicines were also distributed to the elderly residents of the old age homes as well as individuals from nearby villages.
This initiative, conducted amidst ongoing regional challenges, highlights the Indian Army’s commitment to community service, particularly in promoting the health and well-being of vulnerable populations. By focusing on the elderly, the army not only delivered crucial healthcare support but also reinforced its dedication to safeguarding the welfare of all citizens.(pr)
